DAANES: We will continue working to achieve the goals of our revolution

DAANES calls on all national political forces in Syria to unify their discourse and join forces to draft a national Syrian constitution, freeing them from the authoritarian mentality that the former regime has imposed on them for decades.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a written statement on the 14th anniversary of the popular uprising against the Baath regime in Syria.

The DAANES statement on Saturday includes the following:

"March 15 marks the anniversary of the launch of the Syrian movement against the tyrannical Ba'athist regime, through which the people demanded freedom, justice, and democracy.

This popular movement, this people's revolution, which has been ongoing for 14 years and is now entering its 15th year, is essentially a revolution of a people who rose up because they reject injustice, exclusionary policies, and a monolithic image in Syria. Over the past years, the Syrian people have sacrificed thousands of martyrs and wounded, while destruction, devastation, and forced displacement have occurred in most Syrian regions. However, the Syrian people have refused to be under the rule of a regime that does not recognize even the most basic rights of citizenship.

This revolution culminated in the fall of the Ba'athist regime on December 8 of last year. This was a great achievement and a source of hope, happiness, and pride for all Syrians, regardless of their sect or ethnicity. One of the most important goals and aspirations of the Syrian people was to be free of the Ba'athist regime and build a Syria for all Syrians.

On this occasion, we, in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, salute the struggle of our Syrian people, with all its components, and join our voice to theirs for a unified and democratic Syria for all Syrians, without exclusion or marginalization.

We renew our pledge to our people to continue working to achieve the goals of our revolution. We will continue to demand that the new Syrian constitution be one that protects the rights of all Syrian components, beliefs, and sects, without any marginalization or exclusion. This constitution must be the cornerstone for building a unified Syria and a protective shield for our homeland, Syria, and our people from any danger.

We also remember the martyrs of our revolution and bow in reverence to the resistance of our people, especially the families of the martyrs and victims. We salute the resistance of our people and our military forces, represented by the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Internal Security Forces. We also call on all national political forces in Syria to unify their discourse and join forces to draft a national Syrian constitution, freeing us from the authoritarian mentality that the former regime has imposed on us for decades.
