Abu Omar al-Idlibi, commander of the Democratic Forces of the North affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced that a delegation from Rojava will travel to Damascus on Friday.
In a statement on his social media account, Idlib said that the visit would reinforce the March 10 agreement, describing the move as “a critical development that will strengthen the unity of the Syrian state and reinforce national stability.”
During a meeting between Mazloum Abdi and Damascus government officials on April 12, the members of the delegation representing North and East Syria were determined. The delegation will consist of Foza Yusuf, Abdulhamid al-Mehbaş, Ahmed Yusuf, Sanhrib Barsum, and Sozdar Haci. Meryem Ibrahim and Yaser Suleyman will serve as spokespersons for the delegation.
The agreement signed between Mazlum Abdi and Ahmed al-Sharaa on March 10, 2025, provides for a nationwide ceasefire and the integration of SDF forces into the Syrian army. The main points of the agreement are as follows:
* Recognition of the Kurdish community as an integral part of the Syrian state
* Guarantee of citizenship and constitutional rights
* Transfer of oil and natural gas fields and border crossings to state control
* Ceasefire throughout Syrian territory
* Guarantee of the return of displaced Syrians
Idlib expressed hope that this process would pave the way for a comprehensive and lasting solution, noting that the new era was promising for a “conflict-free and united Syria.”
