Following the withdrawal of the Damascus military forces from Deir ez-Zor, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) entered the city center and the west of the Euphrates. Deir ez-Zor Military Council commander Abu Leys El Xesham gave a speech to the people on Friday night.
The Commander explained the mission of the SDF and their purpose in entering the city, and added: "Our forces have moved to Deir ez-Zor to protect the people from the attacks by ISIS and the gangs of the occupying Turkish state. Our people in Deir ez-Zor should not be afraid."
El Xesham added: "The threat, discrimination and racism created by the Damascus regime have now disappeared. We are the people of this region, your children and we have come to defend the region. We have come to eliminate the oppression on you."
Abu Leys El Xesham continued: "The aims of the Syrian Democratic Forces are clear. Our duty is to defend the region against any attack. We will be a strong shield against any threat to our people."
