The Dîfa al-Watani [National Defense Forces] mercenaries and other armed groups loyal to the Damascus government have been shelling the eastern countryside of the Deir ez-Zor Canton with mortars and howitzers since last Tuesday night. The towns of Abu Hemam and Kashkiye and the surroundings of the city of Besîra were the targets of the most attacks. Many civilians, including women and children, were wounded in the attacks.
As a result of the bombardment against Ebû Hemam and Kashkiye towns, 14 civilians were wounded, 2 of them seriously. One of the wounded citizens, named Emar El Salih El Elî, who was being treated in a hospital in Hesekê, lost his life today. Thus, the number of those killed in the wave of attacks against Deir ez-Zor increased to 15, while 24 civilians were wounded.
