Citizens wounded in Turkish attack on Tishrin resistance vigil say they will continue to resist

Those injured in the Turkish state attack on Thursday while at the resistance vigil at Tishrin Dam said that they will not give up supporting their fighters.

The attacks by the Turkish state and its Syrian National Army (SNA) proxy on the Tishrin Dam continue. Turkish warplanes once again bombed the people holding the resistance vigil on Thursday, wounding three people, two of them women.

Ebdulrehman Şikrî Şekiro, one of the injured, said that they will not give up their support for the SDF and YPJ despite the attacks. He added: "We came to support our children and our fighters. We are civilians. We came from Raqqa and Tabqa. They attacked us again. How long will they continue to attack like this? This is our call to our people: let’s support each other, let’s support our fighters."

Şikrî Şekiro added: "Whose is this dam? It is not only ours, it belongs to all the Syrian people. Our fighters, our martyrs, are shedding their blood for us, sacrificing their lives. Everyone knows that the SDF is not doing anything bad, they are defending their lands, they are defending their people. The occupiers should know that we are not afraid of death. You cannot defeat the Kurds, you are the ones who will be defeated."

Şikrî Şekiro continued: "I am a Yazidi Kurd from Afrin; after the occupation, we migrated from Afrin to Shehba. We resisted in Shehba for 7 years, and then we had to migrate again. Enough, what do you want from us?"

Islim Mihemed, another of the wounded, came from Kobanê to participate in the resistance vigil in Tishrin. She said: "I came from Kobanê. Our water and electricity were cut off because of these attacks. We came to stop the attacks. Let the whole world see that Erdoğan is attacking these people again. What does he want from us?"

Mihemed directly addressed the Turkish president, saying: "Erdoğan, no matter what you do, you cannot defeat the Kurdish people, we are greater than death. You attack women, children, and old people, but even if there is only one Kurd left in the world, we will resist you. They cut off the water and electricity of millions of people. Don’t international governments see what is being done to these people. Why is everyone silent?"

Hêva Reşo Hesen was also injured in the Turkish state’s bombardment. She said that they came to support the SDF and YPJ fighters and added: "I am from Girê Spî, we stand by our fighters. We resist the attacks. Even if we are injured or killed, we will not give up on our goals, and we will continue our resistance."
