Autonomous Administration: Turkey hasn’t adhered to the ceasefire

The agreement covers the area between Girê Spi (Tal Abyad) and Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain), said the autonomous administration.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria released a statement on the ceasefire agreement made between Turkey and the U.S. on Thursday.

The statement said the following;

“We in the autonomous administration of North and East Syria reaffirm our full commitment to the implementation of the ceasefire agreed upon between the United States, represented by Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, and the Turkish state.

We affirm that this decision would not have been possible without the legendary resistance and heroic sacrifices made by the SDF fighters. This decision was also a result of international pressure by the majority of the countries of the world, which opposed and condemned this brutal Turkish aggression on the autonomous areas of northern and eastern Syria. The world united against this barbaric Turkish invasion and stood in solidarity with the Syrian Democratic Forces, which defended the entire world in the fight against terrorism against ISIS at the cost of more than 11 thousand martyrs and thousands of wounded and injured.

However, Turkey has not adhered to the ceasefire resolution so far in some areas, especially in Serêkaniyê, and there are martyrs and wounded as a result.

We assure our people in Syria that this agreement covers the area between Girê Spi (Tal Abyad) and Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain).

The agreement guarantees the return home of all those who have been displaced because of the invasion attacks, which will eventually frustrate the Turkish state’s aspiration for a demographic change in the region. This decision will also prevent the Turkish state from invading more Syrian territory.

Some points of the ceasefire deal still need to be discussed with the U.S. as the responsible party.

We in the autonomous administration of North and East Syria would like to thank the Syrian Democratic Forces that have thwarted the Turkish invasion plans and fought not to give the lands watered with the blood of our martyrs to the invaders.

We also thank all the countries that stood by us in these difficult days and condemned this unjust aggression on Syrian territory.

We call on the people in the north and east of Syria to remain fully prepared and to support the SDF until the ceasefire decision is finally established.

We assure the people in the north and east of Syria, and in all of Syria, that the components of the SDF, who have fought for over five years and ended ISIS terrorism, will not be defeated, and will continue to defend Syrian sovereignty at any cost.”
