Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt Operation: Three mercenaries captured in Deir ez-Zor

Three mercenaries were captured in the Deir ez-Zor countryside during the Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt Operation launched by the SDF.

Parallel to the attacks carried out by the Turkish state, ISIS mercenaries have escalated their attacks in recent months, and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a new operation, called Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt, against ISIS cells on 29 December.

Since the beginning of the operation, dozens of mercenaries and suspects have been caught.

In its latest statement, the SDF Press Center reported that three ISIS members were captured in Deir ez-Zor.

The statement said: “Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt is continuing successfully. In this context, a blow was dealt to the places where the terrorist organization ISIS hides, and those who plan a terrorist attack were caught.

With the participation of the Anti-Terrorist Units (YAT) affiliated with our forces and the support of the International Coalition, three security operations were carried out against ISIS cells in Deir ez-Zor on Monday and Tuesday. These cells were preparing to attack, disrupt the security of the region and the people, and disrupt our operations.

After the follow-up studies, three terrorist members were caught in three operations, and many military equipment and devices were seized.”

The seized weapons are as follows: “2 Kalashnikovs, 2 brown guns, 3 bombs, 1 mine, 1 automatic weapon, 2 pistols, 3 military cartridges, 1 mobile phone, ammo rack and magazine.”
