CONFERENCE BY THE COUNCIL OF MARTYRS' FAMILIES

The Council of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Canton held its 9th conference in the Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center hall with the participation of council members and martyrs' families.

Firatê Ayşe, former co-chair of the Council of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Canton, who made the opening speech of the conference, said: "The Kurdish people were facing defeat and disintegration, but under the guidance of Leader Apo [Abdullah Ocalan], they gained the strength to fight and preserved their existence. We stood up with the spirit of struggle of Leader Apo and came to this day."

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-chief Mazlum Abdi, who attended the conference via Zoom, said: "Our movement achieved victory thanks to the martyrs. Our greatest strength in the movement and revolution is our bond with the martyrs. It is our duty to be loyal to our martyrs until the end and to walk in their path."

Stating that there have been many attacks and killings in Kurdistan, Mazlum Abdi said: "From the first day until today, there have been all kinds of attacks against our movement and revolution, especially against Rojava. The danger of ISIS continues. The occupying Turkish state also carries out genocidal attacks to frustrate our revolution. It has accelerated his attacks in Bakur and Rojava. It wants to invade the region by targeting the infrastructure in Rojava, but all its plans have been in vain in the face of our resistance."

Commander Abdi continued: "Our primary duty is to protect our martyrs more. Families must embrace their martyrs, movements and institutions under all circumstances. Those who will protect society and institutions are the families of our martyrs."

Teacher Aras Hiso read Leader Abdullah Öcalan's writings about martyrs.

In the vote held after the speeches, Sara Xelîl and Mihemed Bozî were elected as the new co-chairs of the Council.
