Çiya Kurd: Turkey is after a new plan for North East Syria

Bedran Çiya Kurd said that the attempt to move Hayat Tehrir al-Sham gangs to the occupied areas to fight against the SDF, is part of the agreement made between Ankara and Damascus.

Bedran Çiya Kurd, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration, spoke to ANF about the possible developments that may occur in Syria after the move of the Tehrir al-Sham mercenaries to the regions occupied by the Turkish state. Çiya Kurd said that the deployment of HTS gangs in other regions under Turkish occupation will evolve into new conflicts. He also shared information on the road map to be followed by the Autonomous Administration regions.

The clashes that broke out in occupied Afrin were followed by the deployment of the Hayat Tehrir al-Sham gangs to the region. What prompted these developments in the region?

The events in the region, especially in Afrin, are comprehensive and multifaceted. The aim is making the Hayat Tehrir al-Sham gangs fight against the SDF by carrying the zero-point agreements and threats with the Syrian regime in Idlib to the SDF and the Autonomous Administration regions. This scenario also falls within the scope of Turkey's agreement with the Damascus government. Again, it is a move to liquidate the small groups with which Turkey has ideological disagreements. What has been done is the continuation of the conversion of the occupied zones and their surroundings into the Islamic emirate of ISIS.

We are faced with a practical situation that is leading to dangerous and serious changes that directly affect the political solution and reconciliation in Syria. All of this is an attempt by Turkey to deal a fatal blow to efforts for a political solution. We are in the presence of a project supported by the Turkish state in general, which aims at a new demographic change, genocide by occupation and the displacement of the people of the region. We are following the events closely. The situation will become clearer in the future. The silence of international and regional powers means the approval of the project that Turkey is talking about.

So, what is the reason for the silence against al-Qaeda extension Hayat Tehrir al-Sham (HTS)'s seizure of these regions despite being on the list of terrorist organizations?

We stated that Turkey has prepared a plan for its efforts to approach the gangs that support the regime and its policy in Syria. If we talk about the list of terrorist organizations, the group named Ehrar Al Şarqiye is also a group included in the list of terrorist organizations. Despite this, Turkey supports this organization so far. Turkey does not comply with international law and agreements. In fact, the occupation approach and its support to terrorist groups are the biggest indicators of the violation of the law.

Clashes and conflicts are constantly taking place in the occupied areas, and it is reported that civilians have lost their lives. Who is responsible for resolving the situation in these regions?

We need to understand the reasons for these. This situation is the result of the Turkish state occupation and its support to the gangs. As long as there is support for the occupation and terrorists, we will be faced with these developments. Maybe today, the situation has reached the stage of liquidation and imposition. Those who supported these groups, seeing Turkey as the best option for them, will one day be the target of the same policy. The best solution is to end the Turkish occupation and remove the gangs from these regions. The role of international public opinion and powers should be that of ending the presence of Turkey, which is an obstacle to a solution in Syria. However, unfortunately, since Turkey is a part of regional policy and the main factor in many cases, there are insufficient steps taken in the direction of making Turkey leave the region. Another solution is for the peoples of Syria to come together and see the insecurity of Turkish politics. Turkey's presence here means the continuation of future chaos and destruction.

Abu Tavfik al Deri, one of the SMO leaders, said that Turkey, which made an agreement with Russia, is responsible for these clashes. It was also reported that the HTS mercenaries were preparing for new invasion attacks with the transfer to Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî regions. Do you have any information?

There are many opinions and analyses on the subject. We are closely following the events. This situation in Afrin will undoubtedly affect other occupied regions as well. Turkey's spread of Hayat Tehrir al-Sham gangs to the occupied regions in proportion to the developments will lead to new conflicts.

What roadmap will you follow?

Our situation is no different from other processes. Again, we are faced with a Turkish invasion plan. However, the role has changed. We insist on the decision to liberate our occupied areas, especially Afrin.
