Rojava Youth Union goes to Congress

Delegates from all cities of Northern and Eastern Syria will join the Second Congress of the Rojava Youth Union (YCR).

The Rojava Youth Union (YCR) will hold its second congress today, Friday, in Girkê Legê.

The Congress will evaluate the work carried out so far and improve the organization’s tasks in the context of Northern and Eastern Syria.

The Preparatory Committee said that the congress aims to strengthen the unity of young people as well as their role in the process building of the democratic Syria.

Delegates from Northern and Eastern Syria will attend

Delegates from all cities of Northern and Eastern Syria will join the Second Congress.

Preparatory Committee member, Akif Mustafa, told ANHA that some 5 thousand young people will take part in the first day of the congress. A total of 550 delegates will come from all over Northern and Eastern Syria.

The first day of the congress will see the first speeches and a rally in Girkê Legê. On the second day of the congress, documents and conclusions will be evaluated and drawn.

Akif Mustafa said that the Union Statute will be evaluated in the discussions on the second day of the congress and changes will be made in line with the current process.

Mustafa added that a name change is on the agenda of the congress that would also define the entire membership in Northern and Eastern Syria.

A new Council made up of 35 members will be also elected.
