HDP deputy Kerestecioğlu says policy of trustee is everyone's problem

HDP deputy Filiz Kerestecioğlu drew attention to the Boğaziçi University resistance and said that the policy of trustees is everyone's problem.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Ankara MP Filiz Kerestecioğlu held a press conference in the Assembly regarding the kidnapping of two HDP Youth Assembly members in Ankara and the ongoing resistance at Boğaziçi University.

Kerestecioğlu said that on February 2, two young women who were members of the Youth Assembly were kidnapped by 6 people.

Noting that the abductions were not investigated, Kerestecioğlu said: “Our former council member Erol Çiftçi, who lives in Ankara, was called to Mamak Tuzluçayır Police Station by the police, on January 27, to sign, as he is out on bail. As a result of the curfew, he was told that the signature day had been changed. While our friend was waiting in a room at the police station, 3 people in plain clothes enter and offered him to become a "secret witness" in the investigation file opened against him. Erol Çiftçi refused. When Erol Çiftçi called the Probation Office after leaving the police station, he was told that there had been no change in his signature day and that the station has given him false information. This is confirmed by another police unit. Why does Erol Çiftçi experienced all this? Because he is an HDP member, because he is a Kurd, because he is young."

Boğaziçi University resistance

Referring to the Boğaziçi University resistance, Kerestecioğlu said: “For days, these students and citizens have been saying 'we will not look down'. This is not only a problem regarding the Boğaziçi University. It is a problem for everyone. For our municipalities where trustees have been appointed, for the civil society, for Hakkari University, where another trustee was appointed on February 6. The trustee policy is our problem."
