As part of the Long March in the UK, the Kurdistan Solidarity Network will host a series of events calling for an end to the isolation of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement's leader, Abdullah Öcalan. The first is a zoom meeting on Monday.
A seminar and Q&A introducing the key ideas of Abdullah Öcalan and why his struggle is important to revolutionaries, not just in Kurdistan, but all over the world, will be held online this Monday, 8 February, at 7 pm (UK time).
As part of the Long March in the UK, the Kurdistan Solidarity Network will host a series of events calling for an end to the isolation of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement's leader, Abdullah Öcalan, who has spent the last 22 years in a prison of the fascist Turkish state on Imrali island.
For many of these years he has also been kept in isolation. In this seminar, the Kurdistan Solidarity Network will ask why the Turkish state feels that its so necessary to keep Öcalan imprisoned under these conditions and will show that the Turkish state and the global powers that support it are terrified about the idea of Öcalan's ideas becoming widespread and being heard by revolutionaries across the world.
Speakers include Clare Baker from the Freedom for Öcalan trade union capaign, Reimar Heider from the International Initiative for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and Berivan Qerecox an internationalist from Scotland who spent 2 years in the Kurdistan Women's Movement.
