World Kobanê Day: Australian politicians express solidarity with the Kurdish people’s struggle

On the occasion of World Kobanê Day, Australian Green Party Senator David Shoebridge and Green Party MP Abigail Boyd called for an end to the Turkish attacks and for an increased struggle in solidarity with the Kurdish people.

Australian Senator David Shoebridge published a written message on the occasion of World Kobanê Day on 1 November, while Greens MP Abigail Boyd made a speech in the New South Wales State Parliament.

Australian NSW Greens Senator David Shoebridge, in his written message published on the occasion of World Kobanê Day, emphasised that the victory of the Kurdish people against ISIS brutality in Kobanê is a source of inspiration and joy for the oppressed all over the world. Senator Shoebridge said, “This year, the Kurdish people in Rojava are grappling with the ongoing attacks of the Turkish state on the civilian population, infrastructure and all living spaces. On the occasion of World Kobanê Day, we will continue to stand in solidarity with the Kurdish people's struggle for self-determination and the global struggle for freedom and peace with justice.”

Greens MP Abigail Boyd, in her speech at the New South Wales State Parliament, greeted the revolution of Rojava, which, she said, sparked a global movement of solidarity, resistance and common struggle, which today extends across the world to all oppressed peoples fighting for peace, justice and freedom.
