“We don't want dictator Erdoğan in Geneva” demo in front of the UN

Organizations from Switzerland, Turkey and Kurdistan gathered in front of the UN building and protested Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan, saying “We don't want a dictator in Geneva”.

The Cyprus talks began under UN supervision continue today at an international conference held by the foreign ministers of guaranteer countries. A large group of demonstrators protested Turkish President Erdoğan in front of the UN building at the time the conference started. The protest was held even though it was announced that Erdoğan wouldn't be able to attend the meeting.

HDK Switzerland Constituents, Socialist Party, Green Party, Maison Populaire de Genève, Kurdish Women's Movement, Fourmi-Rouge -Vaud, Swiss Party of Labour, Socialist Women's Union, SolitaritéS, CGAS, PEDA and hundreds from Switzerland, Turkey and Kurdistan joined the demonstration.

Protestors stated that Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan committed war crimes in Turkey and Kurdistan, and urged the UN to form an independent delegation and start the process for his trial at the International Criminal Court.

KOÇ: ERDOĞAN ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MASSACRES IN EUROPE

Speaking at the demonstration in front of the UN building amid intense security measures, European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) Co-chair Yüksel Koç started her speech by recalling the massacres Erdoğan perpetrated in Turkey and Kurdistan.

Remarking that Erdoğan did not attend the Geneva Conference due to international solidarity formed against him, Koç said Erdoğan was responsible for not only the massacres committed in Turkey and Kurdistan but also for the massacres ISIS committed in Europe.

"Erdoğan is the murderer of peoples and he must be put on trial", Koç underlined.

SOLITARITES: INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY AGAINST ERDOĞAN MUST GROW

Speaking on behalf of SolitaritéS, Mannela Honegger described the Turkish President as a dictator with blood on his hands, emphasizing that the international solidarity against him must grow.

Honegger remarked that Erdoğan tried to establish a one-man ruling by imposing war on the peoples of Turkey, and that he must be put on trial in international courts.

SOMMARUGA: TURKEY EVOLVING INTO A FASCIST FORM

Speaking after, Swiss Socialist Party MP Carlo Sommaruga pointed out that Turkey was evolving into a nationalist fascist form, and urged international institutions to act to stop Erdoğan.

Calling attention to the dimension of the war in Kurdistan and the attacks against HDP, Sommaruga said the policies Erdoğan put into practice after the coup attempt of July 15 will never be accepted.

Calling on Switzerland to suspend all its relations with Turkey, Sommaruga said: "Everyone that comes to the UN for peace is welcomed wholeheartedly but the reactions manifested against Erdoğan's preannounced arrival in Geneva has revealed the fact that he is wanted nowhere."

GOMEZ: THE PATH TO DICTATORSHIP MUST BE BLOCKED

Geneva Canton MP Alfonso Gomez criticized Turkey's attempt to occupy the lands of Syria and Rojava, and stressed that the path leading to dictatorship must be blocked through international solidarity.

Geneva Municipality Council Member Remy Pagani, demo organizer Demir Çelik, HDK's Savaş Demir and academic Çağla Aykaç also held speeches, in which they called Erdoğan dictator and urged the UN to take action in order for his trial at the ICC.
