The march will arrive in Amar on 4 April, Öcalan’s 76th birthday, and is framed as a continuation of recent mass mobilizations. "On March 8, women took to the streets. During Newroz, millions called for peace. Now, with the same spirit, we must gather in Amara," said DEM Party Youth Council member Yusuf Mendeş.

Mendeş said that "ending the isolation imposed on Öcalan is key to achieving an honorable peace. Everyone who believes in democracy and justice should take part in this march."
