After attending the congress of his party in Van, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will inaugurate the Tusba Municipality’s service building, which was completed in 7 years, and the Van Provincial Police Department building, which was completed in 6 months. Police panzers and undercover police officers are frequently patrolling in the streets of the city, where criminal record checks (GBT) are frequent and helicopters are constantly flying in the sky. An attempt is made to create a rally atmosphere by hanging billboards and banners readingx "Erdogan is Coming to Van" almost everywhere in the city. People of Van point out that the AKP did not fulfill its promises of a stadium, a ring road, a city square, a new hospital and a university.

DOZENS OF HOUSES RAIDED

Police raided about 50 houses prior to Erdogan's visit to Van and searched the houses on the grounds of “denunciation". Contrary to claims, no criminal element has been found in any of the searches carried out under the pretext of “search for members of the organization". While the police, who had a list of 50 people in their hands, left the homes saying, "No problem, routine search", it is noteworthy that the families whose houses have been raided are the families known to have voted for HDP.

HOSPITAL BUILT IN 10 YEARS AND POLICE HEADQUARTER IN 18 MONTHS

AKP completed a hospital in Erciş in 10 years, has not completed the ring road for 15 years, has not been able to implement a new development plan for 9 years after the earthquake, nor to open the Kapıköy border gate for 20 years. However, the very same AKP has constructed a prison building worth 90 million TL in the Erciş district and built a provincial police headquarter in 18 months despite the pandemic. The contract for the police building was awarded to Zahir Kandaşoğlu, an AKP candidate in the 2007 elections. Construction of the new police building was undertaken by Doğuş Group of Companies, which belongs to Kandaşoğlu, and was completed in 18 months.

"UNFINISHED BUILDING WILL BE OPENED"

Erdogan will inaugurate the Tusba Municipality service building, which district mayor Fevzi Özgökçe had announced 7 years ago. Although intensive work is being carried out by the municipality, which is ruled by trustee Salih Akman, for the inauguration by President Erdogan, and construction work will continue after Erdogan's symbolic opening.

23 MILLION FOR MUNICIPAL BUILDING WORTH 9 MILLION

During the endless construction phase of the Tusba Municipality service building, huge payments were made to pro-AKP companies. Although announced 7 years ago by the former mayor Fevzi Özgökçe, it was tendered to pro-AKP companies on March 20, 2019, when it was certain that the HDP would win the local elections. The contract was awarded 23 million TL in contrast to normal value of 9-10 million TL. The same contractor company had previously been awarded the 2nd Stage Park project. The tender for the municipal building was awarded by invitation to AHM and ENZEL Joint Venture, which is owned by pro-AKP businessmen, Izzet and Süleyman Balkan. Other partners of ENZEL Construction firm are pro-AKP businessmen, Hüsamettin and Cihan Tonga.
