Unemployment at 11.2 percent
According to the October 2010 rate of employment figures released by Turkey Statistical Institute (TUÝK), the rate of unemployment has decreased to 11.2 percent.
TUÝK expressed that the unemployment rate in 2010 October period fell 1.8 percentage points over the same period of the previous year and dropped down to 11.2 percent. The unemployment rate in 2009 October period was at the level of 13.0 percent.
According to the "2010 October Term Results (September, October, November 2010)" of TÜÝK Household Labour Force Survey, the number of unemployed people, which was 3 million 299 thousand in October 2009, has dropped to 2 million 901 thousand people during the same period this year.
According to the data described, non-agricultural unemployment was recorded as 14.1 percent, while the unemployment rate among young population was calculated as 21.3 percent. The actual figures are estimated to be higher. And employment has risen to 22 million 972 thousand people from 22 million 19 thousand.
