Two former FARC guerrillas killed in Colombia

Two more former FARC guerrillas killed in Colombia. Since the signing of the Final Peace Agreement 236 former guerrillas have been murdered.

While the march in defense of peace and demanding the government guarantees of security for former guerrillas, organised by members of the FARC party was reaching Meta, two more signatories of the Final Peace Agreement were killed.

Marcial Macías Alvarado was murdered in Balboa (Cauca) and Libardo Becerra, in San Vicente del Caguán (Caquetá). The number of former guerrillas killed since the signing of the Peace Agreement in Havan, on 24 November 2016, reached 236.

Marcial Macías Alvarado was 61 and according to family members he was in the La Pampa neighbourhood having lunch when two men approached him and shot him three times. His family says he had not received any threats. Macias belonged to the 29th Front of the FARC-EP guerrillas, which operated in Cauca and Nariño, and was in the process of reincorporation into civil life in 2016.

On the other hand, the body of Libardo Becerra Valencia was found in Ciudad Yarí, in San Vicente del Caguán, by members of the community, who alerted the National Police.

"We deeply regret the murder of our comrades, who put their dreams, work and life into the construction of the New Colombia. We are in solidarity with their family and we guarantee that we are here and will continue to fight until we achieve it, for peace for all," said the FARC party in a statement.
