The Turkish army continues suffering heavy losses in the war against guerrillas despite having technical superiority.
While the Turkish state hides the death of soldiers involved in the dirty war in Kurdistan territory, some soldiers get mentally depressed and commit suicide.
Turkish soldier Oğuzhan Eser (22), doing his military service in Çukurca district of Hakkari, came to Bergama district of western İzmir province taking annual leave. Eser was found dead by hunters near a water reservoir.
Eser had bullets in his body and he is reported to have committed suicide.
Reports suggest that Eser was a close friend of specialist sergeant Harun Arvas who died in an action of guerrillas, and had been receiving psychological support since he lost his friend in the incident.
On the other hand, the Turkish army continues to distort the truth on the death of many soldiers.
The army claimed yesterday that a military vehicle heading from Van to Hakkari’s Yüksekova district had an accident, and that 15 soldiers got injured as a result.
It came out last week that Turkish soldier by the name of Yusuf Demiryürek, who the Turkish state claimed “fell down a cliff” was killed in an action of guerrillas in Çukurca on November 28.
