Timtik’s body taken to Gazi Cemevi
Abducted by the police, Ebru Timtik’s body has been brought to the Cemevi in Gazi neighborhood in Istanbul.
The body of lawyer Ebru Timtik, who lost her life on Thursday, on day 238 of death fast for a fair trial, was abducted by the police from the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in Yenibiosna district of Istanbul earlier today. The body has now been brought to the Cemevi (Alevi place of worship) in the Gazi neighborhood under a police siege with armored vehicles.
The Cemevi has been surrounded by the police as anti-riot vehicles have been deployed around and entry-exit points have been blockaded with barriers. Some journalists were not allowed in and Timtik’s relatives and friends are mourning for the lawyer of the oppressed.
A police helicopter is touring the area before the arrival of the crowd attending the press briefing of Istanbul Bar Association in Taksim.
An application has been submitted to relevant authorities for the participation of Timtik’s jailed sister Barkın Timtik in the funeral. In accordance with the answer to be received, it will be determined whether the funeral will be held today or tomorrow.
