Three strategic locations cleared of ISIS in Raqqa

YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have liberated the Bustan area, Al-Muna mosque and the bus terminal south of Raqqa.

SDF fighters have cleared the Al-Muna mosque, Bustan area and the area used as bus terminal following fierce clashes in Hisham Bin Abdulmalik neighbourhood of Raqqa. During clashes in this region, 8 ISIS members were killed and many others were wounded, who then fled towards the city center.

Only the engineering college and surroundings remain under ISIS invasion in the neighbourhood as of now. SDF fighters laid a siege on this area and opened a security corridor to save the civilians trapped here.

Late Tuesday evening a number of civilians managed to flee the neighbourhood in an effort to reach the SDF fighters but they suffered injuries after the explosion of a mine planted by the gangs. The wounded civilians were then rescued by SDF fighters.

In Rawda neighbourhood northeast of the city, the gangs attempted to attack the SDF positions with two bomb-laden vehicles, both of which were however destroyed by SDF before they reached their targets. Two SDF fighters got injured in ensuing clashes in this area.

On the other hand, clashes erupted in al-Barid neighbourhood northwest of Raqqa an hour ago. While SDF fighters are advancing towards the Mesakin Idîxar area and Nahda neighbourhood, no details are available yet regarding the fighting here.
