Thousands gather in Cologne: Hunger striker Tuzak detained

Thousands of people gathered in Cologne, Germany to protest the isolation and salute the hunger strikers.

Dozens of institutions and organizations came together in Cologne, Germany in a demonstration held to draw attention to the hunger strikes with the motto “Break the isolation, tear down fascism” and saluted Leyla Guven and other hunger strikers.

Thousands of people came from various cities in Germany and arrived at Cologne Deutzer Werft early in the morning. The crowd chanted “Leyla Guven is our honor” and “Biji Serok Apo”.

KCDK-E, NAV-DEM, FCDK, FED-MED, the Maras Initiative, AVEG-KOM, PKAN, ATİK, YJKE, FEDA, Partizan, SKB, YS, Agif, Alinteri, MLKP, HBDH and hunger strikers and their families from Nuremberg, Duisburg and Kassel attended the protest.

“CRITICAL STAGE”

Speakers in the demonstration said the hunger strikes are at a critical stage and silence is not an option, calling on European institutions to take action.

The platform constituents gathered under a joint call by institutions stressed that over 300 prisoners, Nasir Yagiz, Strasbourg activists, Imam Sis and activists in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Canada, Switzerland and Maxmur continue their hunger strikes.

The police battered and detained hunger striker Mustafa Tuzak, citing the Ocalan image on his shirt as an excuse.
