Karasu: The prison uniform policy will be rejected by resistance

The political prisoners in Turkey will reject Turkish government’s prison uniform policy with resistance, Mustafa Karasu, member of KCK’s Executive Council said.

Karasu was among the prisoners who resisted against prison uniforms in 1980’s in Turkey when the military regime was in power. Two prisoners were killed by Turkish prison guards during the resistance. After a fierce struggle by the prisoners, Turkish government stepped back and abandoned its plans for prison uniforms.

Karasu called the policy “an attack against all democratic powers and Kurdish people” and said that the plan will be met with resistance in Turkish prisons.

“Erdogan is imposing the same prison uniform policy that September 12 military coup regime tried the impose. They already increased the oppression in prisons, especially against women prisoners. And now they are taking their oppressive policies to a new level” Karasu said.

Karasu pointed out that there will be a resistance against prison uniform policy and called upon all to support the resistance in prisons.

“The prisoners have no means to resist other than their will and bodies. But the ones who are outside have all the means to resist against fascism” Karasu said.
