Support for hunger strikes from Copenhagen and Athens

COPENHAGEN

 

Kurds in Danish capital Copenhagen started a 3-day long hunger strike in solidarity with the prisoners in Turkish prisons.

A hunger strike tent has been set up in Nytorv Square in Copenhagen city center in the demonstration organized by the Denmark Democratic Kurdish Society Center. The demonstration will be held between 12.00-20.00 for 3 days.

The demonstration will conclude with a march from Vesterbros Torv to Nytorv Square and a rally there on April 15 at 13.00.

ATHENS

 

Kurds launched a demonstration in the famous Syntagma Square of the Greek capital Athens in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike in Turkish prisons.

The hunger strike launched by a 11-person group will be alternating.

Greece People’s Assembly Co-spokesperson Derya Bulut spoke in the name of the group and said: “The situation of the prisoners on hunger strike is now critical. We respectfully salute their resistance. The prisoners’ demands are very reasonable and humane and constitute the most basic political rights. We can’t stay silent and wait for them to die. We are calling on everybody to lend their voices to the prisons and support them.”

Bulut called on Kurds and allies to attend the march planned for April 15, 17.00.
