Strong earthquake hit Southern and Eastern Kurdistan

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit Southern and Eastern Kurdistan at 10:00 on Thursday morning.

The earthquake was centered 18 kilometers east of Mehran in Iran at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Three other earthquakes were reported with magnitudes of 5.2, 5.4 and 5.3 in the same area.

The earthquakes could be felt in parts of the Southern Kurdistan.

On 12 November at 9:18 p.m. (18:18 UTC) northeast Iraq was hit by an earthquake with the magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of this earthquake was located 32kms from the city of Halabja. More than 400 were killed.
