Strasbourg’s message to Long March: Plotters have been defeated

The activists in the long march from Basel to Strasbourg launched the day 3 phase of their demonstration. Strasbourg hunger strikers issued a message to salute the long march.

On the 20th anniversary of the international plot that resulted in the imprisonment of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Ocalan, over 100 people including politicians, representatives from institutions and artists continue from Basel to Strasbourg with the motto, “Break the Isolation, Tear Down Fascism, Free Kurdistan” on the third day of the Long March.

The Long March activists gathered in front of the Mulhouse Democratic Kurdish Society Center and chanted the Cerxa Sorese anthem in the morning before starting their march for the day.

MESSAGE FROM STRASBOURG FOR THE LONG MARCH

The Long March activists carry a banner that reads “Break the Isolation, Tear Down Fascism, Free Kurdistan” and frequently chant “Freedom for Ocalan” and “Long live hunger strike activists”. The activists also pass out flyers about the ongoing hunger strikes led by DTK Co-chair Leyla Guven as they march.

The hunger strike activists in Strasbourg issued a message to salute the Long March activists. The message pointed out that the Basel-Strasbourg long march is important and meaningful, and said the following:

“Even though we are not with you physically, our hearts beat as one in our shared spirit of resistance. 20 years ago, forces that orchestrated the international plot saw Leader Apo to be the biggest obstacle on their path to redesigning the Middle East. They set the plot in motion to eliminate Leader Apo, who represents a paradigm that is based on the freedom of all peoples, faiths and social identities in the Middle East. As such, the international plot is also against all opposition forces and all democratic and pro-freedom identities in Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East.”

“PLOTTERS HAVE BEEN DEFEATED”

The message pointed out that the plot aimed to eliminate not just the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom but the peoples’ search for freedom and the women’s revolution and said: “The long march launched in 3 arms by the youth, international revolutionaries and intellectuals, politicians, artists and faith institutions to condemn the plot is the most obvious sign that the international plot has been defeated in practice.”

“THIS IS THE CONTINUATION OF A 40-YEAR LONG MARCH”

The hunger strikers’ message continued: “We want all to know that the indefinite nonalternating hunger strikes led by Leyla Guven that spread to the prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan, to Hewler, Strasbourg, Wales, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria and that have reached a critical phase are part of your march. As believers, we shout out to the whole world that we will smash the isolation, tear down fascism and free Kurdistan. This march is the continuation of a 40-year long march, the peoples’ march to freedom.”

Following the reading of the message, Long March activists chanted “Long live hunger strike activists” and “Biji Serok Apo”.
