Stockholm hunger strikers: We are resolved to break the isolation

Democratic Kurdish Society Center Norway Co-chair Ayser Yuce who continues her hunger strike in Stockholm, Sweden criticized the Norwegian government for their silence and said they are resolved to break the isolation.

The hunger strike in Stockholm started on April 1 with participants from Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Hunger striker Ayser Yuce shared their initiative in Norway through a video call.

Yuce also spoke to ANF and said:

“I salute Leyla Guven and all hunger strikers for their fight against the isolation. They are the pride and honor of the Kurdish people. Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan is the founder of the paradigm and philosophy that guarantees the liberation of the peoples of the Middle East and their life in peace. The isolation imposed upon Ocalan is an isolation imposed upon the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East.”

Yuce said Leyla Guven going on a hunger strike on November 7, 2018 against the isolation imposed upoin Ocalan has its roots in Ocalan defending women’s rights against 5.000 years of patriarchy and added:

“As a woman, I understand why Leyla Guven started the hunger strike and why women support Ocalan. We found our identity in Ocalan, we returned to our true selves. We had a rusty, broken down core. The isolation imposed upon Ocalan is imposed upon all women, and Leyla voiced this sentiment of ours when she started the hunger strike.”

Yuce said there are 10 hunger strikers from Norway and continued: “The isolation against our leader is an isolation imposed upon the Kurdish people and women and we are determined to fight until this isolation is broken.”

The hunger strikers continue their protest in the Democratic Kurdish Society Center Stockholm locale. They sing songs and anthems, and they chant “Biji Serok Apo” and “Be Serok Jiyan Nabe”.

Activists occasionally put up banners in metro stations and squares to inform the public about the isolation and the hunger strikes.
