Socialist Party tables question on Imrali at Swiss parliament

Swiss Socialist Party deputy Molina tabled a question to the Swiss government about the Imrali report published the CPT.

Socialist Party deputy Fabian Molina and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Parliament asked the government to answer a parliamentary question about the report on Imrali published by the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and the situation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Molina tabled the following questions:

- How does the Federal Council evaluate the CPT's report dated 5 August 2020 on serious violations in Turkish prisons and the mass detentions taking place in the country?

- Does it agree with the CPT's demands?

- Will the government [of Switzerland] convey to the Turkish government the demand to improve conditions in prison, given the considerations included in the CPT report about prison conditions in Turkey, and especially in Imrali, described as unacceptable.

The German and Swedish governments were previously asked to answer questions about the isolation in Imralı.
