Tens of thousands of Afrin citizens were forced to emigrate after the invasion of their lands carried out by the Turkish state and its mercenary allies.
A large part of the displaced citizens has resettled in Shehba. After the arrival of the distressed citizens, the Shehba Municipality immediately begun work to increase the quantity of drinking water. Indeed, water is one of the main problems, when a sudden overcrowding occurs.
Due to ongoing conflicts in the region, the municipality faced many difficulties and shortages and the water problem remains a big one.
One of the main target of the DAESH during the fierce battles, was indeed the water network in the region, which has suffered great damage.
Generator, cable and many other infrastructure materials were destroyed by the mercenaries who had no respect for human life.
Damage to a large part of its infrastructure made it particularly difficult to supply drinking water to the area.
New Projects
The People's Municipality began to work to solve the water problem in many neighborhoods. The first thing it did was to open new wells. A generator and other supplies were provided and the water network was repaired.
The new projects first started in Ehres province. The well there provides water to Ehres, Til Qerah and Til Sosin.
Mihemed Elo, co-chairman of the Municipality of Shehba Canton, told ANHA news agency that they tried to solve the problems but were faced with many obstacles as the canton was under siege.
Elo, indicating that they had trouble finding fuel, stated that the villagers did not get enough water.
