The AKP government continues its political genocide operations that target Kurdish people in Turkey and Kurdistan. Several people were detained and arrested in Amed, Aydın, Adıyaman, Elazığ, Urfa and İstanbul today.

AMED

Kulp Co-mayor Sadiye Sürer had been detained during a house raid on December 26 after Diyarbakır Governorate removed her from her position and the Kulp Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for her. After being kept at Kulp District Gendarme Command for 11 days, Sürer was taken to Kulp Criminal Court of Peace where she was arrested and charged with ‘membership in an organization’ and ‘propagating for an organization.’

AYDIN 

10 people including HDP provincial administrators were accused of ‘propagating for an organization’ and detained in Aydın. The reason for the detentions was the content the detainees shared on social media. Police confiscated the laptops and cell phones of the detainees, who have been taken to the Provincial Police Headquarters.

ADIYAMAN 

6 people, who had been detained in Adıyaman’s central and Samsat districts 3 days ago, were brought to court today. 3 of these 6 people were sent to Adıyaman E-type Closed Prison after they were arrested and charged with ‘propagating for an organization’ at court.

ELAZIĞ 

Police officers carried out simultaneous house raids in Elazığ this morning, and detained 15 people including HDP Elazığ Provincial Co-chair Ayfer Yılmaz, HDP District administrator Nihat Akdemir, and former DBP Provincial Co-chair Turan Çelik. The detainees were taken to the Provincial Police Headquarters, and 1 person is still being searched in the city.

URFA

65 of the 250 people that had been detained in Urfa appeared in court today. 185 people had been arrested and charged with ‘propagating for an organization’ and ‘membership in an organization’ since December 24. 30 of the 65 people that appeared in court today were released on probation, and the rest were arrested. Below are the 35 people that were arrested and sent to Urfa T-type Closed Prison today:

İSTANBUL

The 13 HDP members and administrators that had been detained in İstanbul 24 days ago appeared in court today. Cenap Ballı, Gökhan Karza, Muhacir İlhan, Kemal Kablan, Ramazan İpek and Fadime Karabulut Akdağ were released but Cuma Ali Akdağ, Serhat Elma, Ferhat Yıldız, Gazi Aydemir, Kıyasettin Kurt, Hasan Teymur, and Serkan Yılmaz were arrested after being charged with ‘membership in an organization.’
