Sarıyıldız: Kurds have been living under siege for 20 years

Three long marches were organised from Luxembourg, Basel and Mannheim to reach Strasbourg today.

The long march coming from Basel to Strasbourg to mark the 20th anniversary of the International Conspiracy which led to the abduction of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was joined by HDP politicians and intellectuals.

Sarıyıldız: Kurds have been living under siege for 20 years

HDP former MP Faysal Sarıyıldız said that the international conspiracy and the detention of Abdullah Öcalan is actually like a 20-year siege on the Kurdish people.

Sarıyıldız said that this year the anniversary is different and reminded that HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven was on the 100th day of her hunger strike. “We can lose any friend in the resistance at any moment. This will take place in front of millions of Kurds. In order not to witness this, we are waiting for all our people living in Europe to visit Strasbourg on Saturday 16 February.”

Aydoğan: United we can break isolation and save Leyla

HDP deputy Nursel Aydoğan recalled that this anniversary is marked by the hunger strike demanding the end of isolation led by Leyla Güven and carried out by over 300 activists in Turkey, Kurdistan, Europe and beyond.

Kemal Aktaş: Stand up to save the hunger strikers

Urging people to join the demonstration on Saturday, Kemal Aktaş said: “Leyla Güven and other hunger strikers have put their bodies at risk to achieve the end of isolation against Öcalan. This year the anniversary of the International Conspiracy is being marked by another kind of action, the hunger strike. Leyla’s demand is everybody’s demand.”
