Rojhilat protests entered 15th day

Kolbers and shoopkeepers are protesting all over Iran

After the prohibition of border trade in Iran and customs taxation, over 80,000 kolber (border traders) and some 6 million artisans are left without work. Which is why the workers entered their 15th day of protest.

15 days of protest

Like in many cities of Iran, protest actions in Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) have continued uninterrupted for 15 days.

In Rojhilat it was Ciwanro and then Bane to start the protests, soon followed by Merîwan, Seqîz, Serdest and Pîranşar. Kolber and shopkeepers want the government to meet their demands as soon as possible.

After closure of the border gates and the deadly politics implemented, the government sent troops to Rojhilat. Citizens react to the increase of customs fees on the Iranian regime border. In fact, the price of the goods brought from across the border is actually hugely increasing  once customs fees are paid.

Government not willing to work on a permanent solution

Although the government and the authorities have made the occasional justification to explain their policy, there has been no attempt to actually really solve the problem.

Faced with this unresponsive attitude, the traders and shoppers have said they will continue their protests until the parties seat down and work on a real, permanente solution.
