Rojava cantons boycott the Syrian elections

The zones within the Democratic Autonomy Administration of Rojava, West Kurdistan don’t participate in the Public Assembly elections held in Syria today.

The Public Assembly elections in Syria are being held today. The zones within the Democratic Autonomy Administration of Rojava, West Kurdistan don’t participate in the elections.

In a written statement by the Democratic Autonomy Administration, Efrin, Kobanê and Cizir cantons announced yesterday that the autonomy zones would not participate in the elections.

Following the declaration of the coordination, Rojava Security Forces increased security measures in autonomy zones, especially Qamishlo and Hesekê, to stop the Syrian regime from setting up ballots.

Security forces have increased patrols and prevented the regime-affiliated Dîfaa El-Wetenî from setting up ballots in the autonomy zones.
