Protest in front of the OPCW

The Kurdish organizations in Europe have decided to hold a permanent protest in front of the UN Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons due to the chemical weapons use in Kurdistan.

The Turkish army continues to use chemical weapons in its new major offensive against the guerrillas in the Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). However, as the world public and especially the responsible UN organizations remain silent about war crimes, the Kurdish umbrella organizations have decided to launch a permanent protest. The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe and the Kurdish umbrella organizations of Belgium and the Netherlands, NAV-BEL and NAV-NED, will protest in front of the OPCW building in The Hague every Tuesday and Thursday until June 30.

The organizations call on the OPCW to launch long overdue investigations into chemical weapons use by the Turkish army in the Medya Defense Zones. Until the OPCW fulfills its responsibilities, the action will continue. The Kurdish organizations call for especially Kurds in the Benelux countries and their friends to participate in the protest.
