Protest against Turkish Foreign Minister in Vienna

A group of demonstrators led by Kurds protested Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Vienna on Thursday.

In a rare visit Turkish minister Cavusoglu met with his Austrian counterpart Karin Kneissl in Vienna on Thursday. Cavusoglu also attended opening ceremony of a Turkish Cultural Center.

As Cavusoglu was holding a press conference with minister Kenissl, several hundred protested Turkish Foreign Minister’s visit. Holding YPG and YPJ flags and banners that read “Erdogan child killer” the protesters chanted slogans condemning Turkish attacks on Afrin.

The protestors also urged Austrian government to react against Turkish invasion.

Cavusoglu’s visit came as Turkish and Austrian relations became tense over Austria’s opposition of Turkey’s accession to the EU. Austria is one of the member countries of European Union which demands the accession negotiations with Turkey be terminated.
