Prosecutor demands to sentence Deniz Poyraz's father for an interview he gave

The prosecutor demanded to sentence Deniz Poyraz's father for an interview he gave in which he said Kurds are oppressed and it is right to oppose this oppression.

The first hearing of the trial against Deniz Poyraz's father, Abdülillah Poyraz, on charges of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization", based on the interview he gave, was held at the Bayraklı 15th High Criminal Court.

Deniz Poyraz was killed following an attack on the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Organization on 17 June 202.

Adulillah Poyraz and his lawyers were present at the hearing. Lawyers from the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD), HDP İzmir Provincial Organization representatives, HDP Youth Assembly, İzmir Free Student Initiative also followed the hearing.

At the hearing, Poyraz was asked about the statement he gave at the Çankaya TEM Branch. Abdullah said that the Kurdish people are under pressure and that no matter what identity is oppressed, it is necessary to always oppose oppression.

The prosecutor demanded that Poyraz be punished for "making propaganda for a terrorist organization". The hearing was adjourned to 23 June.
