At least 4 people were detained in house raids carried out by Turkish state forces in Urfa’s Suruç district.
Police raided several houses within the scope of an investigation carried out by the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
During the raids, Suruç (Pirsus) Municipality council members Müslüm Karak, Mustafa Özberk, Beritan Aslantekin and Abdulrezak Karak were taken into custody on the grounds of "being a member of an illegal organisation".
It was reported that Beritan Aslantekin's family was subjected to ill-treatment and threatened during the raid. It was also learned that books and a notebook with the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) symbol were seized. The number of detentions may increase.
