Police attack MPs outside HDP headquarters in Ankara

Police attempt to clear the way for a state-led "protest vigil" outside the HDP headquarters in Ankara.

A person named Mehmet Laçin has been organizing hate campaigns against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) for more than a year, claiming that the party has "taken his daughter to the mountains". In doing so, he is massively supported by the Turkish state. Now Mehmet Laçin has been brought from Izmir to a "protest vigil" in Ankara in front of the HDP headquarters. Since the morning hours, the police have been trying with all their might to clear the way for Mehmet Laçin in front of the building against the resistance of the HDP deputies. Already early in the morning, the streets leading to the HDP building were blocked off by the police.

At the same time, deputies and other politicians gathered at the party headquarters over the declaration which will be made public on September 27. The HDP party executive committee had previously announced that it would not tolerate a "provocation" in front of the HDP headquarters. Mehmet Laçin is suspected of scouting the location for the fascist murderer of Deniz Poyraz at his vigil in front of the HDP headquarters in Izmir. In June, a fascist entered the building and cruelly murdered the HDP member. Therefore, the deputies protested, saying, "You cannot bring Deniz Poyraz's murderers here. This man stood lookout while Deniz Poyraz was murdered. The police are protecting him."

When the deputies hung a picture of Deniz Poyraz in front of the party headquarters, the police attacked them. Mehmet Laçin began reciting a statement under police protection. The HDP deputies reacted with slogans such as "Murderer, get out" and "Deniz Poyraz is immortal."
