PKK-PAJK Prison Committee issues message for 15 February

The PKK -PAJK Prison Committee condemned the international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan on its anniversary and saluted the historic resistance in Imrali.

The PKK -PAJK Prison Committee published a statement denouncing the Imrali Prison torture system and the international conspiracy. The statement underlined that the global campaign for Öcalan’s freedom would continue and that the struggle against the conspiracy would deepen.

The statement stressed that in the 27th year of the conspiracy, the primary objective is to dismantle the torture system in Imrali Prison.

The statement continued: "We commemorate with respect all our martyrs who resisted selflessly against the international conspiracy under the slogan 'You Cannot Darken Our Sun' by setting their bodies ablaze. We particularly remember M. Halit Oral, Selamet Menteş, Aynur Artan, Serpil Polat, Mirza Sevimli, Ali Aydın, Yavuz Güzel, Mehmet Gül, and Bülent Bayram, renewing our pledge to keep their memories alive."

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was imprisoned in Imrali on 15 February 1999, after being abducted in Kenya, as a result of an international conspiracy. This conspiracy, said the statement, "happened at the center of capitalist modernity, involving international and regional powers, as well as nationalist, treacherous, and collaborationist forces. It has now been 26 years since the conspiracy took place.

During this time, the Imrali Prison torture system has not only targeted Öcalan personally but has also sought to imprison the will of the Kurdish people and all the forces of democratic modernity. This ruthless war, often described as the Third World War, primarily unfolded in the Middle East and was effectively launched with the 15 February conspiracy. The conspiratorial forces have neither abandoned their objectives nor reduced their brutality."

The statement underlined that "the Middle East remains trapped in a web of unresolved conflicts, held hostage by the nation-state mentality. The divisive nature of the nation-state system has created deep contradictions and conflicts, leading to a perpetual state of chaos and turmoil. The Third World War and the nation-state system continue to condemn the Middle East to bloodshed and massacres more than ever before. In the Palestine-Israel conflict, tens of thousands of people have been massacred. In Syria, the collapse of the Ba'ath regime has left the country in uncertainty, with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seizing control.  The ongoing war in the region is directly linked to the existence of the İmralı Prison torture system. The only way for the Middle East and the world to break free from this chaos is through the construction of Öcalan’s alternative life system and the advancement of a revolutionary people's struggle against capitalist modernity."

Over the past 26 years, said the prisoners, "a great struggle has been waged against this treacherous conspiracy, led by Öcalan and carried forward by our guerrillas, comrades in prison, and the forces of democratic modernity. Enormous sacrifices have been made throughout this period. Thanks to this relentless resistance, the international conspiratorial forces and their collaborators have been prevented from achieving their objectives.

As we enter the 27th year of the conspiracy, our primary duty is to completely dismantle the Imrali Prison torture system. At the same time, the struggle waged over these 26 years has brought significant gains for our people and our allies. The greatest achievement is that the new paradigm developed by Öcalan has proven to be a real solution, not only for us and our allies but also for the very forces that played a role in the conspiracy who are now forced to acknowledge its validity."

The statement continued: "Mr. Öcalan has been working to develop a solution to the Kurdish issue within the framework of the Democratic Nation perspective in Kurdistan. At the same time, he aims to create a model for all peoples, particularly in the Middle East. It is of vital importance to understand, interpret, and actively engage in this new process initiated by Öcalan. For this reason, he has declared: ‘This time, we must succeed.’

The global campaign launched under the slogan 'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Solution to the Kurdish Question', led by allies and supporters, is centered on breaking the severe isolation imposed on Öcalan and securing his freedom.A comprehensive and highest-level struggle must be waged to strengthen the campaign for Öcalan’s freedom and break the isolation without compromise.  Achieving success in this campaign should be seen not only as a responsibility towards Öcalan, but also as a self-criticism of comradeship. We must succeed. It is no longer acceptable to endure even one more year under this isolation system."

The statement concluded by saying that "it is essential to expand and intensify the global campaign with conviction and determination, wherever we are. By mobilizing the masses and strengthening the struggle, we must mark the anniversary of the conspiracy with widespread and powerful protests. A more effective and forceful struggle must be waged to dismantle the Imrali Prison torture and isolation system once and for all.

We once again condemn the international conspiracy carried out against Mr. Öcalan and salute his historic resistance."
