Peoples said “NO” to Erdoğan’s war and genocide policies

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan couldn’t achieve the outcome he expected in the April 16 referendum to fortify his “one-man” dictatorship.

The peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey said “NO” to Erdoğan’s years of genocide, pillaging, thievery and other policies.

The Supreme Electoral Board, AKP and MHP’s attempts to void the peoples’ “NO” vote will remain on the agenda through appeals to be made by HDP and other political parties.

People took to the streets in Istanbul, Izmir and other cities after it was announced that “Yes” had won and chanted “No one-man dictatorship” and “Government resign”.

This means that despite the expectations of the AKP/MHP clique, the peoples don’t accept AKP’s war, genocide, pillaging and thievery policies.

Kurdistan was painted red all over with “NO” votes. In cities attacked and destroyed by the Turkish state since the end of 2015.

One of these cities is Şırnak and its districts. In Cizre, attacked by the Turkish state for months, almost completely destroyed, 81.3% of the voters said “NO” to Erdoğan’s one man dictatorship, while in another attacked district the “NO” vote was at 74.8%.

The then-Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had attacked the Sur district for months, and claimed they would “turn it into Turkey’s Toledo”. The district voted 64.9% “NO” to “becoming Toledo”. As places most affected by the AKP’s policies of war, Silvan said “NO” with 78.9% and Lice with 85.7%.

Muş’s Varto district was one of the places the self government resistances started and one of the first places the Turkish state attacked. The “NO” vote was at 86.1% in the district.

One of the most important emergences was Hatay’s Samandağ district. Samandağ is a district Erdoğan and AKP, supporting the presence of ISIS gangs in Syria, use as a base to spread their dirty aims throughout the Middle East. The district said “NO” to war policies with 92.3%.

Cities like Artvin, Iğdır, Ardan, Hatay and Zonguldak also voting “NO” have shown clearly that AKP’s dirty politics are not accepted.

Istanbul, Ankara and almost all of the Aegean, Thrace and Mediterranean regions voted “NO”, which shows how significant Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland’s comments of “The Turkish leadership should consider the next steps carefully” are.
