Fighters from all fronts of Northern and Eastern Syria are resolutely continuing their joint resistance at the Tishrin Dam.
The Women's Protection Units (YPJ), Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters, and the Manbij Military Council are showing historic resistance near the Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozak region against the invading Turkish state and its allied gangs.
Since September 28, the Turkish state and its proxies have intensified their attacks on North and East Syria. The Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozak region, in particular, have become the main targets of these attacks. The region holds strategic importance as it provides needed energy and water to the people, meaning the ongoing conflicts carry the risk of turning into a humanitarian disaster. This situation is causing great concern among the local population.
The ongoing war around the Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozak region is of vital importance for the future of Northern and Eastern Syria. The Turkish state and its proxies aim to seize this region to occupy all of Northern and Eastern Syria. Behind these attacks is the goal of destroying the lives of the people in the region, destroying the democratic national structure, ending the shared life and cultural unity of the people, and abolishing women's freedom. This situation poses a significant threat to the local population.
In response, the people of Northern and Eastern Syria are defending their land by holding vigil around the Tishrin Dam. Refugees who fled from Shehba, Kobanê, Heseke, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Serêkaniyê, and Shaddadi, along with the entire region's population, are continuing a joint resistance against these attacks. During this process, fighters from all fronts in the region united in a single power to fight against the occupying forces.
We are fighting for the unity and solidarity of the peoples
One of the fighters participating in the resistance at the Tishrin Dam, Agirî Til Temir, a member of the military council of Til Temir, emphasized the importance of the resistance at Tishrin Dam.
Agirî, an Arab fighter, said: "We are at the Tishrin Dam right now because we need to protect our regions from the Turkish state and its proxies. This time, we must prevent our lands from falling like Afrin and Serêkaniyê. We are telling our enemies that we will not leave the Tishrin Dam. As long as we exist, we will continue to resist. The resistance here, carried out by the Kurdish, Arab, Syriac, Assyrian, and Turkmen peoples together, is a collective struggle. We are fighting for the brotherhood and unity of the people. We are fighting for the unity of the Kurdish people."
Agirî Til Temir has been part of the SDF for 12 years. He pointed out that this is not the first war he has participated in, and added: "I took part in the Serdemê and Rûmetê resistance movements, and in operations against the ISIS gangs in Deir ez-Zor. Now, we are fighting at the Tishrin Dam to protect our people and our region. People from every village of North and East Syria have joined this resistance, and this resistance symbolizes a democratic national spirit. We celebrate the efforts and struggle of everyone who joined the resistance."
