Peace in Kurdistan: Rojava is a beacon of hope for all peoples

"As a participative democracy unlike any other in the Middle East, Rojava has become a model for people across the entire world who are seeking to achieve their own freedom."

Peace in Kurdistan Campaign extended its solidarity greetings to the people of Rojava on 19 July 2019, the 7th anniversary of their revolution.

In a written statement, marking the 7th anniversary of the revolution, the Peace in Kurdistan Campaign said the following;

“The establishment of Rojava has inspired the world and given hope to Kurds in every part of Kurdistan that liberation is within their grasp.

Rojava is a welcoming home for all and it embraces people of every faith, ethnicity and nationality. It is a place where the people are in control of their own society; one where men and women work together in full gender equality for the benefit of their community as a whole.

As a participative democracy unlike any other in the Middle East, Rojava has become a model for people across the entire world who are seeking to achieve their own freedom.

Inspired by the ideas of Abdullah Ocalan, Rojava represents a bold optimistic vision of a sustainable future founded on cooperation, making dreams become reality. Its survival shows that it is possible for a determined people to build a democratic society and throw off the shackles of oppression - even in the most adverse of conditions. Rojava is a beacon of hope for peoples of the Middle East and across the world.

The Kurds, alongside all people in Rojava, live together in freedom and equality. They can be proud of the tremendous strides that they have made towards establishing a new society of the future.

Their courage and their achievements have rightly inspired people all over the world.

We join in the celebrations on the 7th anniversary of Rojava. But we celebrate in the full knowledge that their struggle is far from over. Rojava exists in a hostile environment and is still assailed by powerful forces.

While we are confident that the power of the people's resistance will ultimately triumph, equally we realise that the enemies of Rojava are far from vanquished. That is why we stand firm in our solidarity with all the people of Rojava.

So we celebrate Rojava's successes and great victory, remaining steadfast in our support.”
