Number of Kurdish and Turkish victims in the UK increases

The number recorded by the Kurdish and Democratic Forces associations is 23, but activists said it is certainly higher also because often families don't want to say the cause of death.

The number of Kurdish and Turkish people losing their life after contracting coronavirus in the UK is increasing. At least 23 people have died so far.

Gülüzar Ağbacı from the village of Kırkısrak in Sarız is the latest victim. Before her Vahide Bektaş from the village of Pazardelen in Sivas could not be saved despite all the interventions.
A day before Elif Keskin from the village of Yayladere Şığan in Bingöl, also lost her life.

The number recorded by the Kurdish and Democratic Forces associations is 23, but activists said it is certainly higher also because often families don't want to say the cause of death.

The Democratic Forces Association issued a statement in which it said: "We heartily share the pain of our people. However, this is a natural epidemic and it is also a responsibility to tell the cause of death, because the virus is contagious and all those who had been in touch with the person who passed away need to be isolated. We expect sensitivity in this regard."

The Kurdish People's Council also issued a condolence message for those who lost their lives due to coronavirus. "We share the pain of all our families, we express our deep sorrow. We will overcome this process together with solidarity, unity and love. We invite everyone to comply with the instructions given by health authorities and relevant bodies."
