No news about political prisoner sentenced to death in Iran

Political prisoner Eziz Mihemedzade, who was sentenced to death by the Iranian regime, has been missing for 11 months.

Eziz Mihemedzade, who was sentenced to death for being a mamber of a Kurdish party, was taken from Seqiz prison in Eastern Kurdistan to somewhere undisclosed on 5 May 2010. Mihemedzade has been lost since that day and the attempts of his family about his fate remained inconclusive.

Mihemedzade was detained in Bane city of East Kurdistan on 13 October 2019, held in Intelligence (Ýtlaat) center for 3 months and put in Seqiz prison afterwards. The 32 year- prison sentence of 27 year old Mihemedzade was changed into execution with the accusation of “Muhareb” (war against God).

The family of Mihemedzade is worried about their children, while local sources state that there is no evidence to prove the accusations against Mihemedzade. It is so much so that Iranian officials don’t even explain the name of the party Mihemedzade belonged to.

In Iran's prisons today,at least 16 Kurdish political prisoners, one of them a woman, are under threat of death at any moment.

The latest execution was on 5 January of a political prisoner named Hüseyin Xizri who was hanged secretly in Urmiye prison. 8 Kurdish political prisoners have been executed by the Iranian regime since 2007.
