The Newroz reception in Vienna was jointly organized by the Austrian Democratic Kurdish Society Federation FEYKOM and the Municipality of Vienna, and took place in a large hall allocated by the Municipality.

Among those who attended the reception were many politicians, artists, trade unionists and well-known figures.

Vienna State and Assembly Deputy Şafak Akçay from SPÖ, SPÖ's Austrian National Assembly Member Harald Troch, Nilüfer Koc from Kurdistan National Congress, PYD representative Mizgin Ahmed, Green Party's Austrian National Assembly Member Ewa-Ernst Dziedzic, President Saya Ahmad, European Parliament member Andreas Schieder and European Leftist Group President Walter Baier attended the reception.

FEYKOM said that the Kurdish question is still not solved, and a solution is urgently needed, and added that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan should be freed.

PYD representative Mizgin Ahmed said that Newroz should be celebrated in the spirit of freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.

Nilüfer Koç from the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) said that the freedom and revolution of the Kurdish people was brought to the world thanks to Abdullah Öcalan and added that the struggle will continue.

Green Party's Austrian National Assembly Member Ewa-Ernst Dziedzic said that immediate action should be taken for political prisoners in Turkey and that the arrest of Austrian citizens in Turkey is unacceptable.

European Parliament member Andreas Schieder stated that Kurds are a people fighting for freedom and democratic forces are strong in Kurdistan.

European Leftist Group President Walter Baier emphasized that the time has come for Abdullah Öcalan's freedom and that Kurds have the right to live freely in peace.

A painting exhibition by artist Zehra Doğan was part of the event, as well as a Newroz video prepared by FEYKOM. The event ended with Kurdish music performed by artist Rizgar Akan and halay dances.

Tomorrow, Thursday, a torchlight Newroz march will be held in Votivpark, and an open area Newroz event will be held in Heldenplatz. The big Newroz night will be held at Gasometer. Among the artists there will be names such as Bengi Agiri, Narin, Bajar and Hivron Delil Xidir.
