Newroz Festival starts in Marseille

The four-day Newroz Festival in Marseille started with a reception.

The Newroz celebration, which started at the town hall of the 2nd and 3rd districts of Marseille, was attended by the host, Anthony Krehmeier, Mayor of the Socialist Party Regions, Deputy Mayor of Marseille, Annick Samuelyan, Councillor of Coppola Metropolitan Municipality, and the spokesperson of the Platform for Solidarity with Kurdistan.


The mayor of the 2nd and 3rd districts of Marseille greeted Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, while the Director General of La Marseillaise stated that they would increase solidarity and said "The world owes the Kurds".

An exhibition prepared by French artist Laura Degras for Kurdish political prisoners was opened during the event. On the other hand, letters and postcards were sent to Kurdish politicians in prison.

Marseille Tev-Çand and Arin Mirkan Women's Assembly also attended the event, which continued with Kurdish music and dance.

Sunday 24 March: The Marseille-based mass will gather at 13.00 at Parc du Palais Longchamps Square, march en masse and celebrate at Canebiere Square.

Tev-Çand artists Shérif Omeri, Hozan Faruk, Dilber Kobanê, Hezin Maşo, Mahsun Sever will take the stage and the celebrations will continue with speeches and events by politicians.
