Germany Democratic Kurdish Society Center NAV-DEM issued a written statement on the police raid against the Kurdish association in Bielefeld.

The statement said, “The Bielefeld police raided the Bielefeld Democratic Kurdish Society Center and homes of 5 of its administrators at 06:00 this morning. They entered the Bielefeld association with dozens of officers in fascistic way and arbitrarily confiscated various documents in an hours-long search. This practice by the Bielefeld police is not new, and not independent from the central German state’s policies.”

The statement pointed out that the German state attacks Kurds in coordination with the dirty relationship they have with the Turkish state and stressed that these attacks won’t provide them with results. NAV-DEM condemned the raid against the Bielefeld Democratic Kurdish Culture Association and said, “The policies of oppression and restrictions against Kurdish institutions are increasing the tension among the Kurdish people.”

“SUPPORTING THE TURKISH STATE”

The statement continued:

“It should be known that the vehicles used in the ground war in the Afrin countryside are German state provided panzers and ammunition. There is only one reason for sucking up to the fascist Turkish state and the AKP-MHP government, who have been exposed for the whole world to see, to this extent and that is the fact that the economy created by war gets mouths watering for the ruling cartels of the imperialist system and the merchants of weapons. One item in this list is certainly the panzer tanks Germany has put forth for the war. That is why they ignore their own country’s laws and ban the smallest democratic right that is the right to peaceful assembly, and symbols and colors in connection to this. The true goal is to add to their profits, and do all they can to this end. As attacks against Kurdish institutions become arbitrary, with their stance they have virtually patted the fascist Turkish state on the back, and shown their loyalty at every turn by updating weapons sale deals.

German police banning flags and banners of the Kurdish national movement is of course not a thing that causes surprise. We know that the German state, who acts as the harbinger of democracy among European states, doesn’t mind openly showing its aggressive imperialist teeth to workers, the oppressed and the othered when it is the interests of their strategic ally in question, in a manner that disregards law and rights.

“KURDS DISRUPT THEIR BALANCE”

Kurds have disrupted all balances in the Middle East. Stopping the murderous gang that is ISIS is without a doubt not an easy development to swallow for the forces that nourished this gang. These symbols represent Kurds, these symbols represent the people who fought this terrorist gang and defeated it. Who do those who ban these symbols represent?
