Municipality of Raqqa accelerates construction efforts

The Municipality of Raqqa continues its efforts to rebuild the city after the liberation from ISIS gangs.

The Municipality of Raqqa has accelerated efforts to meet the needs of people returning home after the city was liberated from ISIS gangs. City streets have been cleared of ISIS remnants, infrastructure repairs have been done and efforts to rebuild the city continue extensively.

The municipality first removed the embankments set up by the gangs in the Mashlab neighborhood, and has mobilized all resources for the cleaning and repairs in the city.

Raqqa Co-mayor Ehmed Ibrahim spoke to ANHA about the municipality’s efforts.

Ibrahim said they first cleared the embarkments set up by the gangs in the city streets and added that they have increased the number of municipal workers to 360, and that women are leading municipal efforts.

Ibrahim spoke about their efforts and said they have resolved the private and public properties issue, the vegetable market and the slaughterhouse, and the sewage system has been repaired.

Ibrahim said the municipality formed a committee for the repairs of the water network on November 1, and that various institutions have helped clear the remnants of war from the streets. Ibrahim said the Raqqa Water Works has prepared a 3-phase plan for the solution to the water problem, and shared the following on these efforts:

In the first phase, the main lines in main avenues and the damage on them were determined.

In the second phase, the Sef El Dewleta neighborood, Ebu El Hef Avenue, El Mensur Avenue, February 23 Avenue, Old Mosque region and the Old Raqqa Walls neighborhoods were repaired.

In the third phase, the Basil Avenue line that provides water to Cemiyet El Reşid, Basil Avenue, El Beydai Park, El Inhidar Crossing, Basil Crossing and Qitar Avenue. A total of 70 million Syrian Liras were spent.

Raqqa Co-mayor Ehmed Ibrahim said Heyva Sor a Kurd provided pipes and lead for the repair efforts and the PIN organization gave a support of 10.000 Dollars.

The Raqqa Municipal Police and other units have been activated. All units started to work immediately and are meeting the demands of the people.

The Environment Committee planted trees throughout the city, and now is preparing the Reşid Park.

Ehmed Ibrahim said they are having trouble coming up with the budget that is required for the repair efforts, and called on all relevant institutions to support the rebuilding of Raqqa.
