March to support hunger strikers in Stuttgart

A joint march and rally was held in Stuttgart, Germany promoted by Maraş Initiative and KCDK-E with the slogan “Let’s Break the Isolation, Defeat Fascism, free the Leader”.

AABF, ADHK, ATİK, 1938 Dersim Anti-genocide Association, AGİF, Alınteri, NAV-DEM, HDK-A, SYKP, FEDA and thousands of people joined the rally organized at Rotebühl platz.

Speaking on behalf of the Maraş Initiative, Safiye Işcen drew attention to the Maraş Massacre process and said that the same state mentality is the one that continued to kill in Roboski.

The march was also joined by journalists in exile. The hunger strikers were commended.

The marchers were greeted with applause in the tent of hunger strike in Stuttgart’s Marstall Street.

Here, Die Linke (Left Party) MP Gökay Akbulut delivered a speech. Akbulut condemned the isolation of Öcalan and commended HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven on her 39 day of hunger strike to demand an end to the isolation imposed on the Kurdish People’s Leader.

Day and night resistance

The ongoing hunger strike in Stuttgart Marstallstraße has left 10 days behind. Hunger strikers have been visited by about a thousand people since their action began.

The 20 hunger strikers include PYD activists and activists from Karlsruhe, Bondensse, Reutlingen councils and the Baden-Wurttemberg state.

Gıyasettin Yalçın was in the first group of hunger strikers and joined the second group as well.

Activists are also protesting the police who detained people who were on hunger strikes in North Kurdistan.

The action will continue in Stuttgart Marstallstraße during the day and at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Stuttgart at night.

The hunger strike will last at least until 21 December.
