During an identity card check on passengers in a coach at a checkpoint in Birecik district of Urfa, a traveler was killed by a shot from a police vehicle 50 meters away.

The man is reported to be 32-year-old Sedat Polat who was sitting in the bus on the front row of seats when he was shot by police fire. The coach was on the way from Amed (Diyarbakir) to Adana.

The corpse was handed over to family members after the autopsy. The investigation into the deadly incident is still ongoing.
